The subtitle of this performance between the music and festive ritual is „Calling the Secret of Happiness/Vitalising the Spirit (Pending)“.

The Dulsori ensemble work with the percussion phenomenon known as „pungmul“. This form was used by the Korean farmers to summon and celebrate the elementary natural forces. Their instruments imitated the sounds of the natural world – thunder, lightning, rain and wind. By synchronised drumming, Dulsori accumulate energy, thus asking for exuberant joy. Through the thomp of the drums, however, they reveal the way to inner cleansing peace. They thus rekindle the forgotten Korean celebratory rituals in accordance with their modern musical feeling. They transform the old tao philosophy into a passionate musical act.

Their pace never lets up. It's a gripping performance of delicious percussion, crashing drums and rabble-rousing vocals with an Iggy Pop moment.
The Guardian, UK

The energetic and elemental performances are raw and passionate affairs as the world’s most enthralling performers.

Dulsori. The ensemble was founded in 1984 and focuses on the fundamental impact of the rhythm on a human being. Dulsori literally means „heartbeat of the land“ or also „wild beat“. All the Dulsori performances draw on traditional Korean rhythms, which in their modern rendering have been energizing the audiences all over the world for quite a few years. The ensemble believes that to create a sense of community is important in any culture. They can never reach this ideal alone, though, and therefore they keep alive the principle of an ancient ritual and summon and appeal to their audiences to participate. The ensemble has staged numerous international performances and toured Australia, Israel, Africa and across Europe.
